Cubegenics
The Game:
This was built as a submission for Mini Jam 186.
The theme was 'Evolution' and I knew from the beginning I wanted to do something with genetics.
When the limitation of "Failure is progress" was announced, the idea became more clear to me. You would try, through trial and error, to use selective breeding to achieve a result. The problem is eugenics are gross and bad. So I obfuscated the grossness and badness by making everyone a cube!
Do not worry, no matter how much they scream, the cubes do not feel pain.
The Story:
You are a human geneticist. You have been transported to a planet inhabited by sentient cubes by a fringe organization called 'The Order of the Cube'.
The Order believes in a prophecy that a 'Master Cube' will be born and usher in an era of everlasting peace and prosperity. The problem is, they're tired of waiting. They have brought you in on the basis of a paper that you wrote entitled 'The Ethics of Eugenics' in which you played devil's advocate for the concept.
You are effectively a prisoner of the Order. You cannot go home until you have delivered a specimen matching the prophecy. May God have mercy on your soul...
