Running With This Idea

Since I did my first game jam in 2017, I haven't once revisited a jam game. I always finish the build, get it up before the timeline, and wash my hands of it. From time to time, I've fixed the occasional gamebreaking bug if there's still time on the clock. But I have never picked a jam game back up to flesh it out and make it into something that stands on its own outside the scope of the jam.

This jam entry has gotten more looks than most jams I've done outside of Ludum Dare. Another really important thing to mention is the feedback. A lot of people are saying they like the core idea, but wish there was more to it. If I'm being completely honest with you, I also wish there was more to it. The idea came up very organically for me and I got more into it as I progressed with the jam.

I think there's an experience here that deserves to be shared, but I really think it's the job of a better game to do that. That's why I'd like to say that I'll be doing my level best to make that game over the next few months (I think, I suck at time estimates). What I hope this will accomplish is taking the core of this idea, which seems to be something, and allowing it to flourish in the space of a game that wasn't made in two days with the limitation of only using one button as input.

The project is underway as of today and I hope to keep making updates here, and eventually on the page for the game itself.

Thank you for playing. I love you all.
